Some children within year 1 planned a class liturgy last week. They delivered this to the rest of our class during our morning worship. All the children went forth greeting everybody with a smile.

The children (staff and parents)had a fantastic day visiting the Discovery Museum in Newcastle. At the museum the children took part in a work shop finding out more about George Stephenson and his locomotive train The Rocket. The children were then challenged to design their own locomotive using a variety of materials such as wooden wheels cotton reels, cardboard and paper cups.

The children’s designs were fantastic. We then put their locomotives to the test looking for the locomotive which travelled the furthest in the quickest time

Number Bond Fun!

Year 2 have been recapping our number bonds this week, using the numicon to help us. We had lots of fun and the numicon helped us to solve some very tricky problems!

Year 2 Worship

Yesterday the children planned their own worship and this morning we all gathered for worship. The children led the liturgy using our gather, word, action, and mission cards. We shared the creations story with actions and sang the wonders I see hymn that we have learnt for this topic. For our action we created hand prints and thanked God for our creation. Our mission was to go forth and tell our loved ones how much we love them. It was a lovely way to begin our new beginnings topic.

The Knitted Bible

Yesterday our Minnie Vinnie’s had a lovely time visiting St Mark’s and St Cuthbert’s Church in South Shields, to look at 33 different knitted scenes form the bible. We were amazed by the work that had gone into each one, they were brilliant. We worked together to complete a quiz on the different stories. Our favourite was Jonah and the Whale and Noah’s Ark! A huge thank you to St Mark’s and St Cuthbert’s.

Year of Oscar Romero

This morning before the hustle and bustle of the school day started, our pupils, parents and staff all celebrated the life of Oscar Romero in a moving morning reflection.

This time enabled everyone to have some quiet time for prayer and reflection whilst visiting the numerous prayer stations set up around our school hall.
