Year 1 children visited Bolden Environmental Centre on Friday 17th March. The children listened to the story Zog by Julia Donaldson and enjoyed activities to accompany. They toasted marshmallows on the camp fire, collected magic stars, played hide and seek and made fire dragons in the craft area of the classroom.
We all had lots of fun and it was a great end to our reading week.
Over the past few weeks, the children at St. Mary’s have been taking part in elections for the school council. Children from each year group from Years 1 to 6 took part. Children nominated themselves and had to deliver speeches to their class to try and win their votes. The children then voted for the people that they thought would be the best school councillors. After the votes were counted the children were told who had been elected. Here are our new school councillors. We will keep you updated about our projects throughout the year!
Year 1 dressed as super heroes to complete our Creative Curriculum topic. We had a visit from a real life super hero, Debbie the Lolly pop lady and found out about the real life super heroes in History Florence Nightingale and Neil Armstrong.
