Christmas excitement and playing in the snow in Nursery.

This month we have been very busy in Nursery, decorating our classroom, practicing our Nativity play and of course playing outdoors in the snow. We have our Christmas tree up and we all helped to decorate it together, as well as making decorations and cards to celebrate the season. We have been exploring ice in our continuous provision, exploring whether it floats in water, painting it and mixing in glitter to give it a sparkling quality. We have introduced creatures into our tuff spot who live in icy places such as huskie dogs, penguins, polar bears and whales and have been discussing igloos and ice bergs too. We have enjoyed making Santa’s sleigh with blocks and writing letters to Santa or wrapping up parcels in our post office area. Of course, the naughty elf Poppsie has been back again, causing trouble for the adults and making a mess. The children have loved the opportunity to play in the snow and on Tuesday we even went to Forest school in the snow and completed a scavenger hunt looking for Christmas themed pictures. It was freezing but magical! We are very excited for our party this afternoon and of course our Nativity play tomorrow and look forward to seeing you all there. Please check the News page for lots more photos of these activities.
