Getting ready for Reception.
As some of our children will be going to Reception class in September we are focusing on improving our fine motor, reading and discussion skills at the moment. We have been listening to group stories, discussing the events and answering questions at small group time, before creating our own story maps, representing the different parts of the story in drawing and writing. We have made an ‘I can read’ display in the classroom with labels such as ASDA, Haribo, McDonalds, TESCO etc. of well known brands for the children to think of themselves with positivity as a reader. We have also been adding many resources to our daily continuous provision for the children to practice their fine motor skills such as writing pattern sheets, rice and paintbrushes to form shapes and letters, white boards and pens for name formation and play with magnetic letter shapes. Please watch our website for more exciting activities and school readiness ideas.
